Planet Web Entertainment Inc. (PWE), a truly competitive alternative to cable and satellite video, is an “over-the-top” (over-the-top of a high speed Internet/broadband) PayTV subscription service offering high quality streaming video over an Internet-based Virtual Private Network . PWE’s service is direct to the consumer and is the first and only online IPTV service offering which delivers premium QoS and QoE to the subscriber along with total endpoint control . Traditional video distribution systems have required the installation and maintenance of a private distribution network and required some form of hardware-based Set Top Box (STB) to provide endpoint control. PWE is breaking the boundaries of the last mile by delivering content over the public Internet as an always-on, quality, video subscription service and manages the consumer experience with its proprietary software/virtual Set Top Box (VSTB). PWE’s VSTB leverages both VPN and DRM technologies (coupled to a MPEG 4 decoding viewer) making a safe and private connection for each consumer. PWE can embed unprecedented security to any form of content (even premium real-time video). PWE’s VSTB allows for value-enhanced services such as on-demand content, shopping, gaming, and demographically targeted advertisements.
The IP-based private network behind PWE’s service is scalable to support an unlimited number of TV channels and media points and adaptable to include any online pricing/rental models (al a carte TV/VOD).
